Very Impressive Product
So let me start by saying I was torn between this product and the Orange Whip. I agonized over which one to go with. (I really didn’t want to purchase both of them.) I came away very happy with choosing the SKLZ Trainer.
A Magnificent Device for Timing, Tempo, Warmup
I’ve played golf for 55 years and carry an eight handicap. Drive about 240-250 yards. I’ve used dozens of training aids, and this could be the best one ever, well deserving as the #1 selling swing trainer on Amazon. Not complicated – just the swing it back and forth; it’s a strength and tempo tool, not for swing mechanics. As a warmup, nothing does the job as fast – maybe about ten swings; and it helps considerably with what’s probably the most important move in the golf swing – the transition at the top of the swing. Maybe the key word is “fluidity” best describe its key benefit. Combining fluidity with enhanced swing speed and balance via this device, I’m re-experiencing that wonderful feeling of “flushing” the ball every now and then. I may be a little too nutso about this trainer, but I received the 40″ model and have been so impressed that I just ordered the 48″ version also. A tip – put it in your bag and take five swings every three or four holes for muscle memory. It’s supposed to be bag-legal but I think you need to count it as one of your 14 permitted clubs.
It helped me, it could help you
I have the trainer for about 2 weeks now. I have been using it in my backyard a couple times a day. I am 60 years old in great shape but I’ve lost a lot of flexabilty; the Gold Flex really helps with this and has increased my range of motion on the back swing. I also live near a driving range and go there about 3 times a week. The first few times I went there after using Gold Flex I was a bit frustrated; I had some improvement, a little more distance and better follow through, but nothing major. Then yesterday at the range I took my driver, setup, relaxed and specifically tried to emulate that backswing I used with the Gold Flex. I connected, and holy smokes, the ball went sailing about 270 yards, and I was only hitting 230 yards when I conneced before. I teed up another ball and right up the middle, then 2 more, all at least 270 yards and dead straight or with a slight fade. All summer I have been going to the range and hadn’t been able to drive further than 230 yards, but within a couple of weeks with this product I was able to put together a pretty decent swing. For me it was all about that transition at the top off the swing, and keeping the right temp to generate that lag. I’m not writing this review to brag, I people hit i way further than me. I writing it because I thing it is a great product and may be able to help another frustrated old golfer if you are willing to put he time and thouht into it.
I liked it so much I got a second one for the office.
I was introduced to this by a guy I got paired with at my local course, and his partner had an orange one. While we were waiting to play, they were telling me about them and I swung them both for a few minutes. I could not feel any difference between the two, and I loved the general idea as a warm up, plus a training aid. I got online and this one was less expensive than the orange one so that was a no-brainer.
This is an excellent golf-training aid. Though it is less expensive than a similar product, it doesn’t sacrifice anything. It’s winter time in New York, and since it was in the mid-40’s today, I chose to go to the driving range. When I started, I was the only one there. (By the time I was finished, one other golfer was there.) I warmed up by stretching and taking ten swings with the SKLZ Golf Flex Trainer. To my pleasant surprise, I hit the ball as if I were in mid-season form. I could not have been more pleased. It helps loosen the body up, as well as helping with your tempo. It’s a permanent fixture in my golf bag. Excellent product.
Viable for any level of golfer.
Excellent! I bought this to keep a fluid swing tempo in the off season here in Washington. When I am unable to hit the range, this is perfect to swing while watching some TV to keep loose and keep that good head lag swing tempo. I love it.
Good for warming up and improving your club head speed
Good for warming up and improving your club head speed. My only recommendation is to give yourself plenty of space until you get used to its swing radius and not knock anything over like I did first time out (lol). Overall good product but I would suggest you swing it moderately at first for about 10 to 15 reps and then pick up your speed for another 20-25 reps for best results. Great a courses for pregame warm up that doesn’t have a driving range nearby.
Be aware of the trainer length
Too long for a standard driver and cannot choke down enough to simulate other clubs without the end of the SKLZ trainer getting in the way. I’m 5’8″ and had to return it for the shorter 40″. Unless you’re about 6’0″, the 48″ is too long. Otherwise great product comparable to Orange whip ball trainer for more economical price.
"Must-have" golf swing trainer
Good golf trainer for reinforcing correct tempo for the swing and also to reinforce correct swing plane and proper hip, shoulder, body turn along with correct arm motion and follow-thru. Good for strength training, too. Pretty much the Swiss knife of golf trainers. I would consider this the most essential arrow in my quiver of (many) golf training items. Less than half the price of the orange whip yet does the same thing.
